Harbor City/Harbor Gateway

Harbor City and Harbor Gateway. These areas were part of the annexation to Los Angeles which allowed Los Angeles to extend its boundaries to the ocean and thus include the site of the port. Originally developed by W. I. Hollingsworth in 1912, it was called Harbor Industrial City in an attempt to attract industry. When that failed, it was renamed Harbor City in the unsuccessful hope that the Harbor would be extended into the area. About 20,000 people live in Harbor City, an area of less than one square mile. As Realtors, we are proud to have found a site in Harbor Gateway on which 16 Habitat for Humanity families now own homes. We could not find much about Harbor City or Harbor Gateway on the web, but below is the website of the City of Los Angeles.
