Lomita
Lomita was built on the former site of the Shoshonean Indian village of Suangna. Nathaniel Narbonne became an owner of the property once a part of the historic Rancho Palos Verdes, owned by the Sepulveda family. The high school serving Lomita is named for Mr. Narbonne. Lomita was first subdivided in 1907, and for a time called itself the “Celery Capitol of the World.” Lomita incorporated in 1964, a community of two square miles. Its population in 2000 was 20,046.
